CEO of the German Hotel Association (IHA)
Political economist (“Diplom-Volkswirt”) Markus Luthe (53) is CEO of the German Hotel Association (IHA) since 2005. Besides his general lobbying and networking tasks as representative of the hospitality industry in Germany he signs especially responsible for quality, digitalization and distribution issues. On behalf of the German Hotel and Restaurant Association (DEHOGA) he is amongst others since its market introduction in 1996 responsible for the German Hotel Classification and since its foundation in 2009 for the European Hotelstars Union, too. In 2010 Luthe got elected for the first time Member of the Executive Committee of HOTREC Hospitality Europe, and is since then Member of the Board. In 2012 he was appointed Chair of HOTREC’s Distribution Working Group and since then he is the first contact person for his European colleagues in distribution and digitization affairs.
